Bridge of Life 2019
#YEGSEMICOLON Tattoo Event
We are best known for our #YEGSemicolon tattoo event. Through this, we have raised more than $66,000 for mental health initiatives and programs in the Greater Edmonton Area between our 2015 and 2016 events! #YEGSEMICOLON also created a huge community of friends and at least 1,600 of them got their semicolon tattoos from this event!
We have since branched out into putting on different events but our mission remains the same.
Bridge of Life
The Bridge of Life is an annual YEG Mental Health candlelight vigil for Suicide Prevention Day.
Each year, this event is held at the Constable Ezio Faraone Park (11004-97 Avenue - Edmonton) where people gather for light music, conversation, and hot beverages. Speakers will share their personal stories dealing with suicide and mental illness. Candles will then be lit and attendees will walk across the High-Level Bridge to remember the lives lost. A moment of silence is held and then attendees return to the park to end the event.
Collaboration With Aces N Spades
#YEGSemicolon 2017 took place over the whole month of October (a.k.a Mental Health Month) at our good friend Jamie Lofn’s tattoo shop Aces N Spades! This event brought in approximately $7000 which YEG Mental Health distributed between 3 amazing local initiatives.
In 2018, YEG Mental Health and Aces N Spades Tattoo collaborated again and conducted a year-long semicolon tattoo event. Every month starting in August 2018, Aces N Spades will be held semicolon promotions at the shop on certain weekends. They have an amazing array of designs and the artists’ skills are second to none. In the first monthly promo, Aces N Spades raised $850.00 for YEG Mental Health!
This partnership is still ongoing so keep an eye out on their Facebook page to see when they will be holding another round of promotions!
We are very thankful to Aces N Spades and Jamie for their continued support.
YEG Mental Health and Block 1912 Bring You Lets Talk.
A Bell Lets Talk inspired event bringing local mental health advocates and the public together for informal discussion around mental illness and mental health. We had amazing organizations and advocates join us and the important conversation around Mental Health was continued.
